The Department of Economics was established as a distinct unit in 1974 and began offering a B.A Economics Programmein 1980. For the past five decades our department has been dedicated to moulding students into fine and responsible citizens. In addition to the regular curriculum, the department offers a Certificate Course in Export-Import Management. To address the evolving needs of the educational and employment marker, we have diversified our teaching content to better align with the current needs of the student community
There are five faculty members in the department, all of whom hold Ph.D. degrees. Two of these members are NET/SET qualified. Interdisciplinary research and teaching interests of our faculty members equip students with effective and up-to-date skills. Besides the general library, the department maintains its own collection of books. Our Department strives to provide the best education and foster cultural and national consciousness within the student community. We also utilise the Services of our alumni to help economics students prepare for competitive examinations.
