• The department holds an Intercollegiate Literary fest annualy.
• The Department students are encouraged to donate blood at regular intervals to Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai.
• IIT Spoken tutorial courses - for all UG and PG students to improve their skills in Libre Office Suit Writer 6.3
  
• Every academic year, the final UG, PG, Alumni Student and staff members will donate a book individually to the department Library.
  
• On the occasion of Bharathiyar's birthday, a programme was jointly organized by Central  Institute of classical tamil and Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, and a speech competition was held for the students in which the winning students were awarded first prize of 5,000 rupees, second prize of 3,000 rupees, third prize of 2,000 rupees and fourth prize of 1000 rupees.
