ANNOUNCEMENTS

About NSS

The National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS, was launched in Mahatma Gandhiji's centenary year, 1969, aimed at developing students' personalities through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in colleges, universities, and at the +2 level working for campus-community linkage.

The cardinal principle of the NSS program is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers, through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation-building.

The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.

Mission:

The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired to serve the people, and hence NSS aims for education through community service and community service through education.

Motto :

The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is 'NOT ME BUT YOU'. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service, appreciation of the other person's point of view, and also showing consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.
