The Department of Computer Science was started in the year 1998, under the self-financed section and is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. The department initiated with Bachelor of Computer Science B.Sc(CS) and introduced Master of Computer Science M.Sc(CS) in the year 2001.
Department of Computer Science of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College strives to shape outstanding computer professionals with ethical and human values to reshape nations destiny. The training imparted aims to prepare young minds for the challenging opportunities in the IT industry with a global awareness rooted in the Indian soil, nourished and supported by experts in the field.
The Department has a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Our Faculty Members consistently publish scientific articles in reputed journals. Our faculty members actively participating in national and international level seminars, conferences, and workshops reflects a dedication to staying informed about the latest developments and trends in the field
The teaching methodology in the department goes beyond fulfilling the syllabus requirements of the student community, to meet the today's industry needs. Faculty motivates and guides the students to do mini projects in core subjects. Special focus will be given to develop Communication and Soft Skills. The department is having strong association with industries to uplift the student's practical knowledge.
Well-equipped classrooms and computer laboratories with LCD projectors and desktop systems contribute to a constructive learning environment. This infrastructure enables students to engage in practical, hands-on learning experiences and stay updated with the latest technologies. The department has continuously used ICT based learning methodology with an MOU with Spoken Tutorial at IIT Bombay funded by MHRD Govt. of India. The materials and resources for a few languages like Libre Office suite, C, C++, Java, Python, R and Arduino are being used from resources uploaded in the Spoken Tutorial site.
Collaboration with companies through MOUs for skill development and hands-on training programs provides students with practical exposure to real-world applications. Our faculty members also enrich the educational experience for students by integrating current industry practices and research findings into the curriculum.
