Two-day SCIENCE FAIR – “EQUIP 2K19” for Madurai District School Students on 10.10.19 & 11.10.19. The fair was declared open by Mrs. Premalatha Panneerselvam, Senior Principal, Mahatma Group of Schools by lighting the kuthuvilakku on 10.10.19.

International Conference: The department has organised Two day international conference on “Frontiers in Chemistry and Material Science”. Eminent researchers and scholars from various universities and colleges participated.
Department of Chemistry organized a visit to observe Open Day at CSIR – CECRI at Karaikudi on 26th September 2022
Department of Chemistry organized a 2nd two days International Conference on Frontiers in Chemistry and Material Science (ICFCMS-22) held on 19th – 20th December 2022 at Moorthy Naidu Andalammal Hall. The Conference has ten Eminent researchers from reputed Organizations at National and International levels as Resource Persons. ICFCMS-22 received very good response from participants, both domestic and international including 30 different organisations consisting of Research centres, Universities and Colleges across India and abroad.
The total number of registrations received is about 170, out of which 35 are oral presentation and 60 are poster presentation. The abstracts of papers received is published in ICFCMS-22 proceeding with ISBN number.
Dr. T. Arumuganathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Thiagarajar College, Madurai – 09 has delivered a Guest Lecture on “Basic Concepts in Group Theory” dated on 23rd September 2022 at Rtn. Major Donor Sundarajan Hall.

All the three year students along with faculty members went for an industrial visit to SESHASAYEE PAPER AND BOARDS LIMITED, Tirunelveli on 23.02.2023.
The students and staff of the department participated in ‘Azadi Ka AmritMahotsav Programme for Anu Awareness on 29th and 30th July organised by IGCAR, Kalpakkam and KLN college of Engineering.
Our students won prize in National science day competitions conducted by TNSCST.
A guest lecture programme on “Role of stereochemistry on Organic synthesis” was organized by the Department of Chemistry on 01.08.2023. Dr. A. Tamil Selvi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Thiagarajar College, Madurai, delivered the Guest Lecture on “Role of stereochemistry on Organic synthesis.
The student association of the department ‘CHEM SPECTRA’ for the academic year 2023-24 was inaugurated on 25.09.2023. The office bearers were inducted by the Chief Guest Dr.K.Karthik Kumar, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, The American College. Then the chief guest delivered a guest lecture on “Merging Chemistry and Biology: Nature’s Teaching”.
The students along with the staff members visited Central Electrochemical Research Institute on 26.09.2023 for Open day.
The Department of Chemistry, Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, Madurai organized a one day workshop on “Preparation of cleansing agents” (soap, soap oil, floor cleaner, sanitizer, dish wash del) on 27th December 2023. Resource person Mrs. S. Esthar demonstrated the preparation of cleansing agents for the participants.
The Department of Chemistry and Chem spectra association, Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, Madurai organized the Ability Enhancement programme on “Basic research skills" to students on 23rd January 2024. Dr. A. J. Sunija, Assistant professor of chemistry, Thiagarajar college of engineering, Madurai was the Resource person and she exposed students to basic research skills and thrust ideas to the students.
The department had organised a Two day Hands on Training in CHEM TOOLS(Chem draw, Chem-3D, Rasmol, Protein Data Bank). Dr. A. Elangovan, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry, Thiyagarajar College, Madurai was the resource person.
