Profile

The department of Chemistry under the self-financed stream was established in 2017. The department offers an Undergraduate programme B.Sc(Chemistry). The department has highly qualified, dedicated, dynamic and experienced teaching staff with various specializations to impart basic fundamentals and recent advancements to the students. The department has three ICT enabled Classrooms, well equipped laboratory and library facilities.

The department sincerely strives to develop proactive Students with an intent to learn and excel. The department also offers several Job opportunities through placement cell of the college. Student project is mandatory in the curriculum so that the students are oriented towards research.

The systematic and planned curriculum which has been framed with the valuable suggestions of stakeholders, encourages the students for pursuing higher studies in various disciplines of Chemistry such as Physical, Inorganic, Organic, Analytical, Drug and Biochemistry. This curriculum also empowers student to be a skilled employee or an entrepreneur.

To aspire young adults to excel in Chemical Education, Research and Services to contribute to a chemically literate society through teaching, scholarship and service.

To demonstrate science as a human endeavour and as a way to understand the natural world.

Objectives:

  • To construct the department as a thriving centre of excellence in imparting knowledge, curriculum development, cutting-edge research and popularizing Chemistry.
  • To contribute to industry and address problems of societal importance.
  • To gain the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of handling chemicals.
  • To educate various opportunities for the students in government services like health inspector, food safety officer, pharmacist etc.
  • To afford a broad foundation in chemistry that inculcates scientific reasoning and analytical problem solving with a molecular perspective.
  • To understand the concept of chemistry and to inter relate and interact with other subject like mathematics, physics, biological science etc.
