Profile


The department of commerce conferred UG Programme in the year 1983. It started offering M.Com. in the year 1987 and M.Phil. in the year 2005. The department was elevated as Research Centre affiliated by Madurai Kamaraj University in the year 2009.  The department offers Certificate Courses on Tally, Office Automation & Management and Photoshop to enhance the employability skill-set of the Students.

To inculcate our motto, the department has versatile personalities as faculty members. The department teaches the syllabi through learner – centered teaching methods such as case studies, role play, field visits and project work. Besides the regular programme, the department offers value added and co - curricular programmes.  Remedial classes are an arranged for the slow learners.

The concept of mentorship between the students and the teachers provides a lifeline for immense growth of the students. With the help of the faculty members, the students associations (The Commerce Forum) achieves laurels to the department.

Our department has produced more than 95 M.Phil. and 70 Ph.D. Scholars so far. The Royal Commerce department has its loyal alumni found in almost all professional spheres. They are the great inspirations to the present students and our alumni prove themselves as precious assets to the department through their support in all our endeavors. Commerce Research Centre (CRC) is the added attraction of the department.  To give a practical exposure to the students in the real work environment, our department has assigned MoUs with different industries to provide job training for Under Graduate and internship training for Post Graduate students.

  • To inculcate a sense of civic responsibility, social commitment, and moral accountability among the students through social activities.
